Here is a little clip one of our riders in Germany. Its a cool indoor park in Straubing, Germany called Halle21. The last trip I when I was over there we went and visited the place. The owner had just built the mini and is working on and indoor street section. Since the weather isn’t so great and there arn’t to many indoor parks I think John and Michi will be going there on a regular basis during the winter season. So we should have a lot of good footage from the indoor place.
We as skateboarders have always been hassled for skateboarding. The only difference now is that thanks to the influence of MTV skater based reality show’s skateboarding is more accepted and recognized. Police are always giving us the same line: “Why don’t you go skate the skatepark”. Seriously, we skate the streets because we need to it’s a part of our soul. You can never really duplicate a real street spot. And finding new terrain to skate is all part of the fun and adventure of street skateboarding.
Here are some clips where you can determine if the Cop or the Skateboarder won.
Officer Rivieri was suspended with pay and was investigated by Internal Affairs.  He was caught on tape AGAIN, doing a similar thing to another individual.  Peep that vid here.
The guy (as of early September) is still be hunted by Police.  Read more here.
No comment from me, other than the fact that I think the Guard lost his cool and blew it out of proportion.
This also made pretty big news in the local area, which you can watch here.
This one cause a lot of controversy on Go Skate Day due to most people agreeing that the cop was way out of line.  The kids were arrested and placed on house arrest.  Along with the video being submitted to Youtube, it was sent to the Arkansas Police Department and it all went downhill from there, including locals calling 911 to comment on the video.  The video was also featured on The Daily Buzz:
This is actually a pretty funny video.¬† In the end, it looks as though the guy might not even be security…he might just be the landscaper.¬† It doesn’t end well for this security guard/gardener!
As a skater, even I wan’t to kick this skaters ass!¬† Too far!!
The full article is here, along with other video where they interviewed the skater, Joshua Gandy.
Ok, so this might actually be an Etnies commercial, but you could imagine how sick this would be!!
OK…so David Spade can’t skate THAT well.¬† It’s actually Tony Hawk doing the stunts…shred or die!
I know skaters and cops are notorious adversaries, but, in the end, can’t we all just get along?
Here are two short clips from Andy and John on there “day off” during our last trip through Germany.
Adrenaline junkie or not, no one likes wiping out, smashing their face into cement or breaking limbs. However, skate clothes or not, if you participate in extreme sports, it’s more than likely that at some point you will be injured, or could even face death. So, before you decide to try something like snowboarding down Mount Everest with a rocket strapped to your back, check out these extreme sport mishaps, and remember, these are the guys that survived.
Although you have to admit the 10+ second, multi-level, railing grind was pretty impressive, with that talent, don’t you think he should’ve been able to jump off before hitting the sign?
This is a great example of how extreme sports can hinder one’s reproductive abilities. I’m sure his future wife will understand it was too tempting a line to not try.
Obviously, x-rays weren’t needed to determine a fracture of the left arm.
Take special note of the bounce after the initial impact.
A 10-foot fall onto cement and metal can’t ever end well, but I think this poor guy found the most painful way to do it. Hey, at least there won’t be another generation of maniac idiots spawned from this obvious genius.
Considering the fact that he somehow managed to make it past the first fall, and avoided creating an avalanche, I guess this fall could have been worse.
Apparently no one warned this guy that snowboarding down a rocky mountain wasn’t the best idea.
Okay, there are no falls in this clip, but it had to be included because it’s simply amazing and it would have killed almost anyone other than the now legendary Norwegian snowboarder, Terje Haakonsen.
Considering he was riding a bike towards a cement wall and metal door, he couldn’t have expected a much better outcome.
This guy quickly found out that trying to cheat by cutting across the track wasn’t the way to win, but good try.
Extreme sports like motor cross are for professional athletes only. I know it looks easy and fun, but don’t be fooled, it can be quite dangerous, especially if you are a middle aged obese woman…
Scaring yourself silly can be a fun past time, and there are few better ways to do it than jumping off of a platform and hurtling toward the ground with only a bungie cord preventing you from splattering on the pavement. The best part is that if the bungie cord doesn’t snap, you still have a shot at dying in a retarded way. Just ask this guy, who almost gets strangled by the bungie cord under his own body weight.
Getting sucked out of an airplane and stuck on its wing probably wasn‚Äôt this guy‚Äôs sky diving dream. I’m not sure if I’d consider him extremely lucky, or extremely unlucky. Either way, I bet he is the only person in the world who can say he‚Äôs been cloud surfing like Kit Cloudkicker from Tailspin.
If you have ever watched ski jumping, this is probably exactly what you secretly wanted to happen. Turns out, it’s as spectacularly awesome as you imagined, plus the guy lives.
Big wave surfing isn’t for the faint of heart. Wipeouts like the one in this video can push surfers 20 to 50 feet below the surface. Often times they only have about 20 seconds to get their bearings and swim to safely to the surface before the next monster crashes. Surviving more than three consecutive breaking waves is considered near impossible.
Best Places to Skate That aren’t Made for Skateboarding
Although skateboarding in a designated skate park can be fun, sometimes it’s more exciting to skate somewhere you’re not supposed to. Check out these cool (and mostly illegal) places to skate.
This abandoned pool in Chichester, England was 25-meters long, and has a ramp that took it to a depth of over 12 meters. Unfortunately, it was recently demolished.
It took over three hours to blow up the almost 8000 balloons required to fill this skate bowl in Portland, Oregon.
MTV’s Rob and Big recently stopped by an abandoned water park to show off their moves. Besides the fact that it would only take a slight slip or miscalculation to fall 50-feet to your death, water parks are a pretty sick place to skate.
It’s a rare treat if you can find a skatable closed road, or get someone to close one down for you. Due to a complete road closure of Cheddar Gorge it was possible to achieve the downhill run from the video.
It’s the dream of many to skate the NYC streets. The lucky skaters who grew up in the city through the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s had free range of the big apple. Unfortunately, it’s now illegal to skate anywhere besides the few skate parks available. However, every summer there is a Go Skate Day held in NYC, during which hundreds of people skate at and between all of the skate parks in the city. If you want to skate the NYC streets, this is your best bet.
As long as the treadmill you’re using is at your house and not the gym, you won’t be breaking the law.
If you can’t skate around a tube, you can always let it roll around you.
Parking garages are a great place to skate on a rainy day, especially if you are into slalom.
The trampoline is a great place to practice skate tricks. All you need is a trampoline and a skate deck and you are ready to go. If you’re interested, these are all the ticks landed (in order) in the above clip:
Cannonball, fs 360, bsheelflip, double heelflip, varialheelflip, switch kickflip, fsbigspin, switch kickflip, 360 flip, fsbigspinheelflip, fingerflip, bsheelflip, inward heelflip, fingerflip, varialheelflip, 360 heelflip, double heelflip, heelflipindy, switch kickfliptailgrab, fsbigspinheelflip, bsbigspinheelflip, bsbigspinkickflip, madonna, switch kickflip, heelflip, heelflipindy, bs 360, fs 360, bs 360 ollie north, sal flip, hardflip, fskickflip, 360 flip, judo, madonna, bsbigspinheelflip, varialkickflip, varialheelflip, 360 flip, hand slap flip(?), switch kickflip, switch heelflip, heelflip, kickflip, kickflip pretzel foot landing, pretzel footed heelflip sex change, bsheelflip, varialheelflip, switch kickfliptailgrab, bsbigspinkickflip, roastbeef.
Please, only skate off a Grand Canon cliff if you are as well versed at base-jumping as the guy in this video.
Setting aside the dangers of sudden flooding, getting lost, or getting dumped out off a huge drop, this looks surprisingly fun.
Alright, so this one isn’t on a Skateboard, but it could be theoretically. Either way, I couldn’t leave this one out.
Not a whole lot of room for error, but sometimes the best places carry the greatest risk.
You can find them most anywhere. Children’s slides can be slippery, so watch out, most people fail miserably their first couple of times down.
If you have never been on an alpine slide, they are basically concrete slides that run down the side of a mountain (usually at a ski resort). They can be very dangerous, and you can get going too fast easily. I imagine skating one of these would border on insanity.
